Nowadays, bag snatching has become a major peoblem in Auckland, especially in South Auckland. Thieves always focus on single woman or the older. Wallet and mobil phone are their main concerns. It became a major focus of a dedicated police unit this year, following two incidents where women were injured while trying to protect their bags. One was in Manukau and the other was in Botany.
So, how to prevent bag snacthing and protect ourselves?
First of all, do not carry a large amount of cash with you, pun it in the bank.
Secondly, when you go out for shopping, close the bag and carry the bag with you all the time, do not leave it on a trolley or other places.
Thirdly, try to avoid using luxious bags such as LV and GUCCI.
Fourthly, better go out with your friends and try to go home before 10:00pm.
Finally, carpark area seems to be the most dangerous place. So, when you enter into this area, look around, make sure no one is following behind you, then go into the car quickly and lock your car immediately.
